At Redeemed Church of Christ, we place an emphasis on connecting with our local and surrounding communities. Our focus is on equipping all people to know and to connect with GOD in a substantive way.
We open our arms and our hearts to the world and we invite people to come to know the love of Jesus Christ. You too are invited to come and join our growing community of faith.
Through the leadership of Bishop Robert Hawkins and Mother Josephine Hawkins, the Redeemed Church of Christ was founded in November 1980 as the church began with prayer services in their home. From these meetings the church was organized with a charter membership of nine individuals.
As the church progressed the Redeemed Church of Christ moved to several locations in the city of Alexandria until the current location was identified on September 5, 1985 at 4 East Oak St, Alexandria, VA, where the current congregation continues to worship.
Pastor Joshua and Chimare Bullock are the dynamic, inspirational leaders of the Redeemed Church of Christ. They are dedicated to empowering individuals to embrace their divine purpose by uniting with GOD in fulfillment of His will.
With a combined ministry experience of over 20 years, they previously served at Greater Refuge Temple in Washington, D.C. before taking a leadership role at the Redeemed Church of Christ. Residing in Prince Georges County, MD, they cherish family life with their four children: Abigail, Naomi, Judah, and Mina.
We aim to be a righteous community, adhering to the teachings of God’s Word and yielding to the life-changing influence of the Holy Spirit.
We are dedicated to expressing love towards God and others, with the aspiration to be renowned for our genuine love and care for one another.
We seek to foster the spirit of community by curating an environment of belonging, support, and collaboration among all persons connected to our church family.
We prioritize the practice of celebrating the goodness of God through song, dance, and the usage of musical instruments.
We endeavor to honor God through worship grounded in spirit and truth, drawing us into deeper communion with Him.
We emphasize the importance of mentoring others in their faith journey, assisting them in deepening their knowledge of the Bible and strengthening their connection with God.
We aim to proclaim the message of Jesus Christ to everyone through community outreach efforts and through the framework of equipping evangelists within our local church.
We seek to grow in excellence in every facet of ministy in a manner that magnifies the greatness of God and that advances every Kingdom initiative forward.
We desire to inspire our community of faith to selflessly give and to embrace the understanding that freely we have received therefore freely we give.
We believe the Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21).
We believe the one true God has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent “I AM”, the Creator of heaven and earth and the Redeemer of mankind. He has further revealed Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:10-11; Matthew 28:19; Luke 3:22).
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully human, who came to earth to reconcile humanity to God through His sacrificial death and resurrection (John 1:1-14).
We believe that man’s only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. We believe that salvation is received through repentance toward God and faith toward the Lord Jesus Christ. By the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, being justified by grace through faith, man becomes an heir of God (Luke 24:47; John 3:3; Romans 10:13-15; Ephesians 2:8; Titus 2:11; 3:5-7).
We believe all believers are entitled to and should ardently expect and earnestly seek the promise of the Father, the baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. This was the normal experience of all in the early Christian church. With it comes the endowment of power for life and service. With the baptism in the Holy Spirit come such experiences as an overflowing fullness of the Spirit (John 7:37-39; Acts 4:8), a deepened reverence for God (Acts 2:43; Hebrews 12:28), an intensified consecration to God and dedication to His work (Acts 2:42), and a more active love for Christ, for His Word, and for the lost (Mark 16:20).
We believe that sanctification is an act of separation from that which is evil, and of dedication unto God (Romans 12:1-2; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; Hebrews 13:12). Scriptures teach a life of “holiness without which no man shall see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14). By the power of the Holy Spirit we are able to obey the command: “Be ye holy, for I am holy” (1 Peter 1:15-16).
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine appointments for the fulfillment of her great commission. Each believer, born of the Spirit, is an integral part of the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven (Ephesians 1:22-23; 2:22; Hebrews 12:23).
“We, according to His promise, look for the new heavens and the new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness” (2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21 and 22).
